Leonard’s symptoms including, heaviness, aching and pain in his legs began about 5 years ago. He had bulging bluish colored varicose veins and spider veins that were visible in both legs.
In May 2002 Leonard sought treatment. Dr. Trent performed traditional vein stripping on Leonard’s right leg. Following the surgery, Leonard was in pain and experienced areas of bruising, soreness and tenderness. He stated, “It took 4-5 days after the surgery until I really felt comfortable.” Leonard was out of work for a week as a result of the vein stripping surgery.
In October 2002, Dr. Trent began to offer the Closure procedure and recommended the treatment for Leonard’s left leg. Leonard was unsure about what to expect, “but was happy there was an alternative to the stripping surgery.” Dr. Trent explained that Leonard could be active the day following the Closure treatment. Leonard stated, “I was in disbelief – I didn’t think it was possible.”
Subsequent to the Closure procedure, Leonard was “back to work the next day.” He explained, “I felt no discomfort during the Closure procedure and had no bruising or swelling after the treatment.” Leonard’s symptoms have improved and he no longer experiences pain in the evening following a full day’s activity. Leonard has also noticed an improvement in the appearance of his legs. |
